LEARNING HOW TO BE CELIAC

Sunday September 11th, 2011 in Celiac

When I discovered there was an eating pattern that would take away the pain in my gut permanently, I couldn’t wait to start. Spring and fall every year I was in hospital. Nobody ever mentioned diet. So I started, timid at first, [...]

EATING WHILE CELIAC-COMFORTS OF COLD CEREAL (After all these years)

Monday August 1st, 2011 in Celiac

I had given up on cold cereal after fruitless searches through years down the aisles of regular grocery stores. Besides that, like at least 50% of Celiacs, I am also lactose intolerant. Then there’s all that sugar…
Suddenly, Saturday, I discovered THREE different kinds of gluten free cereals at my local metro [...]

Sunday June 19th, 2011 in Celiac, Grocery Adventures, In My Life Stuff

My husband discovered Heinz baked beans with real maply syrup. They are now a staple of his diet. He doesn’t want no name. They gotta be Heinz. He says it’s a taste thing. The bean shelf, as probably on all market shelves the world over, is a long one. I wouldn’t take the [...]

EATING OUT WHILE CELIAC #5

Wednesday January 19th, 2011 in Celiac

THIS is that wonderful poached salmon dinner at Ramikins Restaurant on Bath Road, here in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The brown sauce is a lemon-butter sauce, the mashed potatoes are real as are the veggies.
My husband has the prime beef sandwich. Both our meals only come to 32 dollars all together in a lovely atmosphere. [...]

EATING OUT WHILE CELIAC #4

Friday January 7th, 2011 in Celiac

It’s the great big basket of fresh bread, rolls and bread sticks they bring to the table, (nothing for you) that makes the celiac wish the condition was more widely understood. There are breadsticks we could have. Possibly bread, though I have yet to find some.
Even crackers would at least [...]
