Just think about it. Members of YOUR community set up their OWN BANK after they got sick and tired of what the banks were doing to them, years ago. And while still receiving alll the benefits of banking, you can be a member of this community bank with a voice. And benefit your local situation. Why on earth wouldn’t you move your money quick like a bunny to a community credit union?

Here I am this summer, sitting outside my local credit union to inform passersby and those who don’t know about credit unions that they are fully insured, safe, reliable and more to the point, personal and caring. Everyone involved is a member. They call it, ‘Banking Where You Belong.’ I’ve been a member at least twenty some years with my mortgage and my whole financial package on board. More than satisfied.

Full disclsoure. Recently my credit union gave me a part-time position welcoming members on Thursday & Friday, cuddling whatever babies show up, patting dogs, available to discuss what’s up with you no matter what that might be. I was a finalist for a national advice columnist for newspapers which might’ve helped. But as an ethical person, I could not recommend something on which I was not completely sold. With credit unions, I sure am. They are safe, personable, deeply important to the community and the best organization with which I’ve ever been involved.
Today’s the day to move your money – quick, before the banks think up some way to penalize you for doing so.

  1. I made a video protest recently for my blog. It is quite funny even if you are pro-megabank. I called my credit card’s customer service line to do some negotiating. Having a bit of leverage, I thought it presented a great opportunity to mess with them a little and make a few points about the unfairness of the credit card lending system. Since it’s a protest at home, I called it my kitchen counterstrike against Bank of America. I think you might enjoy it.
