Ask these guys who are preparing to put all these services back up after a high wind collided with my vine into which the lines were carefully escounced. This involved ladders, clippers, hardhats, yellow tape, barriers and amused passersby.
Here’s my vine, formidable and all pink in the sunrise. It was being badmouthed which made me feel badly. But evidently the outside of a house isn’t entirely about asthetics when you’ve got services coming in.
So up went the ladder while the Leaf game went unrecorded, email was undelivered and the phone sat silent. An odd evening of quiet. Got a lot of closets cleaned, then watched via an old tape, the Marlon Brando version of Guys & Dolls and went to bed. Actually kind of old fashioned day and lovely, after the 20 minute wait on a payphone outside the grocery store to report the wire down, only to hear that 6 other homes had already checked in. Evidently, all of them were somehow connected to us.
Vinehaters, (and there ARE some), had a field day with their ‘I -Told-You-So’s but the thing was back up by 11 AM Monday. How can you deny the thing is paritcularly beautiful in the fall? Hopefully it will be another few years before the vine demonstrates any more muscle.
Grateful to my server, COGECO, for prompt and excellent response.
