Time is not material as thought by some physicists because matter requires motion and becoming, if it is to form anything. That insight entrails the priority of time for matter to be. Time is thus prior to matter. Motion is change over time, changes in each new state brought about by a new time. The condition of void is the condition of no-cause. This is why it is the natural order. Cause is an INTERRUPTION in the natural order – or more properly put as a form: cause is an interruption in ANY order and its FORMAL effect is CHANGE. In interrupting the eternity of void, the demiourgos introduces BEING at a TIME in PLACE where there was nowhere, thus CHANGING within the new context of tie, the natural order.

This once act presents of NECESSITY, not only existence but the LOGOS of existence. The logos is a form. A form is what is KNOWN of anything. A form can only exist as an object of CONSCIOUSNESS. Therefore, three changes are brought about with the interruption of void, the natural order:
1) Time and existence (N+W)
2) The logos of existence (a priori form)
3) Consciousness

Generally the argument that time and existence come out of the assertion that nothing could come out of nothing. But effectively, a caused event can displace the natural order if the cause has sufficient force. The fact that what displaces the natural order at N can be rationalized into a narrative of system and, in any event, consistent over N, indicates that the cause is intentional, which is to say, conscious. The existence presented over N can be seen by human intelligence to be progressive. But the same human intelligence seems to present a possible disruption in what the social conception would see as a progression in consciousness from that of single cell critters to the human.

Existence cannot present without a TIME of ‘existence now,’ to be in. Therefore, it is constrained to the duration of N which is as short as it is possible to be and yet still occur. Therefore there is a TIME when existence is NOT before and after it presents. Existence is inert at N since, if motion were to occur within the period of N, a NEW world state would present which would require a NEW N. But this is impossible because the period of each N is of the smallest duration. Therefore, existence at N is motionless. The period of void between is necessarily unknown because nothing exists – including time – in void.

all that is known is that N has a beginning and an end: duration. If time COULD exist between N, it might be a duration as small as N itself or it might be a period of millennia. Since existence only presents at N, it is separate from all other states and therefore cannot affect other states. Since existence is inert as a PHYSICAL state at N, it cannot affect itself. Therefore, no state of existence can cause itself to replace void, nor can a state of existence present accidentally as that would require a pre-existing condition of existence.

Since existence is constrained to N, even if ONE existence were to present accidentally despite void, it could not cause a succeeding presentation since no state can affect another which does not exist. Therefore, void, NOT existence, is the NATURAL ORDER. Therefore, each state of existence must be CAUSED separately from any other. Therefore existence must be caused by a force standing BEYOND both void and existence and by bringing time and existence about this force is creating in each case AN UNNATURAL EVENT.

Whatever the force is that creates time and existence, creates what is not natural. I call this force, ‘the Demiourgos,’ the craftsman: D for short. This is not to suggest that D is a super-powered human, such as old testament Jaweh seems to be, but there is a characteristic shared with the consciousness that is within the existence created: intentionality. The force that brings existence about devises states that follow each other with very little – even minute – change from one to the next such that the appearance of motion and forces acting in consistent patterns as of a universe that can be understood rationally and through observation. The likelihood of such a succession being accidental seems improbable.

Physical existence does not look to us to be in the epistemological sense, chaotic. If it did, humankind would not have progressed technologically beyond the hand axe or not even that. We have progressed, we believe, immensely, over the millennia in the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge can be true or false. But it is a vast tapestry, based on interwoven conceptia in turn based on learned judgment of categories. It is the ‘social world.’ We cannot know why the natural order of void is so consistently interrupted thus giving us this social world. But it is vaguely disturbing to think that the minutiae of every living creature is determined but for one factor with every presentation of N.

That one factor is whatever it is in the free understanding that results in state-change in future N. It can’t be causal: the effect at N (Q) cannotCAUSE itself in a future world – state which would include itself – or can it?

N(+W) is an act of D
Q is an act of C WITHIN N(+W)

If, as earlier suggested, Q is the intentionality of D in W, instantiated through the logos, why COULDN’T it have powers within N(+w) similar to but subordinate to D?

C cannot actually CAUSE an action of its own body. C is resident within N(+W), which is the EFFECT of the causal act of D that brings about time and existence. Since time and physical existence are states at N, they are inert. C, however as Q, the ACT of D entering the effect at N as intentionality, consciousness moves from the logos to its physical locale not as a physical act in space of extended bodies. Extended bodies in existence are inert, changing in place only at N(+W). The ACT of Q toward its body is a CONSCIOUS act of recognition. This is the second phase of Q’s activity at N – the first being recognition of activity at N – the first being recognition of the logos.

This is the second phase of Q’s activity at N – the first being recognition of the logos.

The intentionality given in the act of overcoming void to create time and existence. (Stage 1) goes on to recognize the logos (Stage 2) and becomes the EPISTEMIC SELF: knower/known (Stage 3). At (Stage 4), the epistemic self-crosses (Stage 4) the DEATH LINE – that is, consciousness that has awakened to the logos and knows itself as existing as knower and known – the self in virtue of KNOWING or ‘episteme’ goes on to recognize itself in the physical world through perceptia and memory of perceptia judged as and sorted into ‘kinds’ of known objects or categories.

This ‘ontic self’ LEARNS the world as a hierarchy of concepts, each of which are composed of categorical judgments or ‘conceptia,’ the activities (Stage 5) of remembering perceptia as categories and categorical relations as conceptia, is a referral loop that is the bases (Stage 6) of the ontic self. Q or N first passes through Stage 3 and as well, as engaging the body/brain at stage 4, also directly engages the ontic self at Stage 7. As the learned social world is built increasingly into the vast web of conceptia, it assumes the dominant aspect of ‘reality.’

The ontic self must re-cross the DEATH LINE to engage D in the creation of world states it wishes to bring about, eg passing a puck up-ice, playing a piano, sorting up a bacteria culture in a petri dish. Most of these state-changes appear to be successful. But why and how it happens is entirely occluded. We call it, ‘freedom of the will.’ It isn’t likely all this Q activity takes place over one N. A SUCCESSION of N must be required, considering the complexity of which figure 8 is merely a sketch.

As figure 8 shows (to be printed here soon), the residual of intentionality in N(+W), seems to remain in the epistemic self. Loop [5] represents brain and nervous system/bodily hormonal and genetic functions and activity on individual cellular levels that operate independently of the epistemic self, simply because they too are representative of intentionality as Q at N.

In fact, the entire body is a composite of received Q in each cell, independent of particularized cells. The Q that becomes the intentionality of the ontic self [6], retains the intentionality of state-change, but receives this Q from the epistemic self.  The epistemic self retaining Q of the whole (body/brain) in the translation of matter into the act of knowing, inadvertently builds through the understanding over N the ontic self, which lives in the physical world and is a TRANSLATION OF THE PHYSICAL WORLD INTO KNOWING. This conceptualization of perceptia is accomplished through the social world. The Q that goes beyond the epistemic self through engaging physical existence to build the ontic self, is, of course, the same Q that recognizes the logos and becomes the knower/known of the epistemic self. But because the epistemic self engages the organizational quality of brain function as transformation of matter into RETAINED knowing or ‘memory. It is the Q that develops into the ontic awareness that exists beyond awareness of a self that KNOWS itself as knower.

It is as the ONTIC self that the intentionality of the creation of W at N, resides in the universe of physical stuff.
